Airplay Aviation is a flexwing microlight training school based at Sutton Meadows airfield, near Ely in Cambridgeshire. Ideally based in the flatlands of Fenland, Airplay is the closest microlight training school to Cambridge itself, and easily accessible from the A1(M) and A14. Many students also travel to us from as far afield as Norfolk, Suffolk, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and even Greater London.
We offer trial flight air experiences, with gift vouchers available for that unique and unforgettable Christmas or birthday present. For those who wish to learn to fly a microlight aircraft, Airplay can take the budding student pilot from their first lesson all the way through to obtaining their Private Pilots License.
Airplay is operated by Chief Flying Instructor David Broom, who has a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for this type of flying. David has been flying since the age of 8, and his microlighting achievements include winning the British Championship, numerous medals at World & European championships and claiming the current World Microlight Speed Record. You can be sure that you will be receiving training from one of the very best in the business.

April 2012:
Alex Niarchos has received his new GTR, and we are just waiting for the CAA to process the paperwork on this brand new design before flying it.
On another note, I've finalised the prices for this year, which are now up on the webpage. These will come into effect on the 1st May, but if you purchase a block of lessons before the end of the month they will of course be honoured at the existing 2011 prices.
For those that haven't been up to the airfield for a while, I've been making some changes to hopefully make it a nicer place to learn in, with a revamped office & waiting room. My new interactive whiteboard has been well received by students, and this makes it easy to email a copy of the graphical briefing through to you for later study. I'm in the final stages of legalising a camera mount for the aircraft in order to introduce in-flight pilots-eye-view video to my briefings. In-flight recording of your lessons (including a link to the aircraft intercom system so you can review how many times I shout at you) will also be available soon if desired. I sincerely hope that these on-going changes will further improve the standard of training you can expect, and would welcome any feedback as the year progresses.
